Hello everyone!! Happy New Year👏
Before I will introduce ArtScience Museum, have you already watched Frozen 2, which was released on November 22, 2019? If you've already done or a Disney fan, it's sure to make you more frantic than ever before. (I'll describe the event later.)
ArtScience Museum is one of prominent and popular facilities in Marina Bay Sands. It houses a lot of works from international touring exhibition to seasonal events. Every section and exhibit has invisible power to catch people's attention. When I visited there with my friends, Wonderland (Apr 13 - Sep 22) were being held, which is one of the international Alice's journey in Singapore. It was like a short trip exploring from the precious author's drafts, various Alice in nations to modern movies. At first, we the guests (of the tea party) received The Lost Map of Wonderland and got to choose the one character of four- the White Rabbit, Cheshire Cat, the Queen or the Mad Hatter. Our adventure depended on the characters and feeling!!!

According to Alice in Wonderland's history, Alice is not the same one, which means that Alice is variable constantly and unexpectedly because of the storytellers, the media and the current of the society. For example, when it comes to Alice, Disney animation's cute girl comes to my mind, but if you take a look at Alice in European countries, the appearance is totally different from Japanese Alice. They are more mature and appealing.

Now it is time to go into the bubble tea party! (Oh, it is just English tea party!) The White Rabbit is running in hurry not to be late for it!! By the way, are you ready for joining them? The time is back to the age when Alice is living with her friends in England. How are you feeling now? Is the tea party that you are sitting the same with what you expected?

Shall we rethink about the beginning of Alice in Wonderland? As well known, the story starts with Alice's imagination or pretty dream, therefore ALL Alice may not be the same with real Alice. The meeting with funny animals, playing a game with the Queen... Alice herself does not realize who is the true Alice as sometimes you are confused with yourself... WHO IS ALICE? Have you found her?

Disney: Magic of Animation
From Mickey Mouse to Anna and Elsa, every one have fallen in love and keep being a member of the Disney world. It is the first time Magic of Animation is held in Southeast Asia and Singapore is filled with snowy cold atmosphere. It displays more than 500 great works, including original drawing, paintings, sketches and conceptional arts. It is a good time to touch the birth of Frozen and reasons of being admired by all walks of life without going to the States.
Besides Frozen, there are some sections of Disney animation which are from the tips of the various magic like Sleeping Beauty and Pinocchio to unknown key which bring Disney animation a lot of beloved audience.

Happy New Year Mako!! I've watched Frozen 2 and it was really fantastic and its theme song "Into the unknown" was also really beautiful. This facility seems interesting because we can experience the Wonderland as if we were a member of the characters. Especially, a picture about the bubble tea party caught my attention. It expresses the Alice's world perfectly, I think. By the way, I have a question for you. How much does it cost to enter the facility? Please tell me if you don't mind.
ReplyDeleteI was happy to hear that because you have watched Frozen 2 and have already been familiar with it. Sorry for vague ticket information. It depends on the person, I mean if you enter the Frozen 2 floor and the other exhibition, the ticket will be expensive than the only Frozen 2. In addition, if you lodge in Marina Bay Sands (the hotel), it must be changed, therefore it's difficult to tell you the certain price and I put the official link at the bottom of my post. I would like you to see the page according to your plan.

I am pleased to hear that you got interested in this post even though you don't know about Disney animation very much. Not only Disney, it hosts lots of worldwide exhibition, I guess it has displayed Japanese one. I want to make an effort to have readers like you attracted Singapore!
DeleteThough I'm not at all a Disney fan, Lewis Caroll's Adventures of Alice is full of reference to real human condition both physical and psychological. I feel there is a great depth to Dodgson's (Lewis Caroll) writing, but I'm left with a sense of superficiality when confronted with most Disney films. That being said, Disney films are very accessible because they contain pop music, whereas The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland is less so and certainly contains no music. In some ways, Disney films seem to be a vehicle for the music they contain, whereas the story of Alice is purely literary and has depth in its words and images. My guess is that any kind of display like the one you wrote of, follows more of the Disney pattern of superficial titillation rather than depth of experience even if the subject was originally deeper. I have never been to Singapore, but somehow I feel that Singapore is a Disney kind of place.

As you said, Disney films translate noted works differently from the original ones in their own way like adding music, three-dimensional animation and living experience. Therefore, not all the audience agree and applaud the display, comparing it with the original good points of the original story. I think we should see all Alice in Wonderland in each way and it can be true in the other way.
