Chinatown ~explore~
Hello, everyone!
Did you enjoy meals in Chinatown last time?
As I said before, today I'll take you to 1 day trip in Chinatown.
Chinatown is located near the heart of Singapore. It takes about 50 minutes from Changi Airport to Chinatown station by MRT, subway.
Chinatown Point
When you get out of Chinatown MRT station, there is a big shopping mall which hundreds of thousands of people descend on from around Singapore and around the world, Chinatown Point. 170 stores and service centers are there, including Asian restaurants, tea shops, clothing stores and massage shops. It is easily for travelers to overlook more famous stores, so if you can't choose a shop where you buy souvenirs, I strongly recommend you go around there.
Do you drink bubble tea? If you want to try Singapore's bubble tea, how about grabbing The Koi's tea which is in the 1st floor? I noticed that Japanese bubble tea is mostly based on milk or soy milk, but in Singapore there are a variety of tea and fresh juice. Especially, fresh lemon and lime juice with bubble is not common in Japan, so it is a good chance to taste the new world of bubble tea.

Buddha Tooth relic Temple and Museum
It takes about 7 minutes on foot from Chinatown MRT station. It is Tang dynasty (China, 618-907) style temple located at the center of Chinatown. As the name shows, there is Buddha tooth in the 4th floor. In the 3rd floor, there is a museum which exhibit a life of Buddha and learning. In the 2nd and 1st floor, there are many statues, cultural assets. You can go inside and see the solemn statues which are different from Japanese temples.
When you enter the every floor, please pay attention to the signs. In some parts, taking photographs are prohibited and you have to be quiet. In addition, it is a rule that you wear not gorgeous or naked outfits in front of religious statues, so please keep in mind.

In addition to two places, I want you to feel like real China in Chinatown. Even if you are just in the street, there are a lot of points such as traditional Chinese lantern, arts and local stores, which make you reassured. In particular, Singapore's wall art got into the news among Japanese anime fans. Do you know Detective Conan? The latest movie in which the protagonist cracks a criminal case in Singapore was released, and then he is now in Chinatown's street!!
Singapore is also the city of art mixed with multicultural taste, so you feel as though you were in a art museum!!
I didn't know that there is a huge shopping center in Singapore and I want visit there someday. Moreover, this town is related to the Japanese famous anime so it will be fascinating Japanese people, too. By the way, I have a suggestion about your post. The last two sentences in your article about Chinatown Point are split into two parts. So You should correct them.
ReplyDeleteMako, excellent post! Entertaining and informative. As I said before, you are writing in a fun travelogue style and your choice of pictures matches well with your text. I think the slight strangeness of alignment after the picture of Chinatown Point is due to the text wrapping and alignment you chose for the bubble tea picture.
ReplyDeleteAs you move forward in your blogging, I would like to see you make your posts more accessible to the readers. Right now, because of the theme you chose, readers have to hunt for labels associated with previous posts. One way to make things more accessible is to put posts on separate pages that are associated to tabs that exist at the top of the home page. You can see an example of this on the pukblogtips page found on our class list page. You can also find links there that teach you how to put tabs and pages into your blog.
Your blog this time is also easy to read.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great pleasure for readers have detailed information about sights and shops.
I would like to imitate the next time to blogs that can present information to readers.
Again, really awesome job! You really felt I went to the town because of your detailed explanation. I especially became interested in Chinatown Point. The fact that the building has 170 stores in it is just mind-blowing :D I would never get tired of exploring the building. And yeah, I watched the latest Conan movie. I think it had a good impact on both countries in a way that the anime became more famous and in way that Singapore got a new traveling destination. I was also tell from the pictures that the city is artistic as you mentioned. It seems the city is really interesting and enjoyable. Would totally love to visit the city now :)
ReplyDeleteI want to imitate because it was good that the text continued from the last time. Conan was surprised to be in Singapore! I like Conan and want to go there!
